Celebrate Leap Year 2020
Celebrate Leap Year 2020
Celebrate Leap Year! So, if you’re wondering what makes this non-holiday day unique; not only does it add a day onto our year, but also it is an extra day added to the calendar.
Celebrate Leap Year
Since we have 365 days in a year, the Earth takes longer than that to make its way around the sun. Because of this, every year adds 5 extra hours and if you add this up; it makes sense that one extra day is added to the calendar every four years.
Although there are different theories to this due to the sun isn’t always mathematically correct; however some years we may not have one if the year isn’t able to be divided by 100 and 400. Mmm – you’re wondering, so what happens if it doesn’t? Simply, the best way to understand this is the last two digits must be divided by 4; so 2010 won’t be a leap year.
So, if you were born on February 29th or are thinking of proposing; there are several fun things to know about this day that comes around every four years:
- If you were born on February 29th, you’re sometimes referred to as a leaper or leapling
- However, in many countries, those born on the 29th celebrate their birthday the day before or the day after
- Consequently, frogs are associated with leap year. Indeed, frogs have unbelievable leaping skills; so of course, this makes sense
- Surprisingly, leap years coincide with the United States Presidential election and the Summer Olympics
- Also, February 29th is known as Rare Disease Day
Leap Year Marriage Proposal Traditions
When it comes to a leap year; a woman can propose to a man. However, if the man refuses, he has to buy the woman a gift such as a dress or piece of fabric. And, in Denmark – a man has to give the suitor 12 pairs of gloves.
Since roles have reversed, anything goes. Although times have changed, many consider this tradition old-fashioned. Of course, either sex can propose anytime.
If you looking for a great comedy that depicts a strong woman character; this is the movie to see. Not only does Amy Adams know exactly what she wants, but, also has a zest for life.
Is February 29th Good Luck
Meanwhile, if you were born on this day; does it mean you won’t age until the next Leap Year? Indeed, anyone born on the 29th would most likely celebrate their birthday the day before or the day after. But, it would certainly be great if you didn’t age.
Should you marry or divorce on February 29th? In many countries, it is considered that if you get a divorce; you will never marry again. Although many consider this a myth; it is something to ponder.
Of course, we all sometimes wish for a do-over. Well, this year, you have one extra day of the month. Therefore, make it a good one.
As always, I welcome your comments on how you will celebrate Leap Year.

Spouses Day January 26th
Did you know today is Spouses Day? Well, don’t fret if you didn’t know about this day; as neither did I. Since I’m married; I think this sounds like a fun day to enjoy my better half.Spouses Day
Although there is no origin of who created this day; there is a similar one known as Military Spouses Day. Military Spouses Day was started in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan and is always celebrated right before Mother’s Day.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner; this day is the perfect time to appreciate your partner in crime. Although this day isn’t about giving presents; it is a day to appreciate everything your better half does.
Indeed, throughout a marriage; we sometimes forget to appreciate all the little things our partner does. Personally, I know I’m guilty of this. So, make sure you let him or her know how much you appreciate them.
What is the Key to a Successful Marriage
Indeed, there are certain things that are essential for a successful marriage. Start and finish each and every day by acknowledging your other half. So, the following are some tips:
- When the going get tough, hang in there.
- Smile. Start and end your day by putting on your “Happy Face”.
- Of course, your attitude matters. How you approach a situation makes a difference. Whether you had a disagreement with your mate or they caught you in a bad mood; turn this negative into a positive.
- Are you looking for a change? Moreover, the most important thing to keep in mind when it comes to change is usually this comes from ourselves.
- Finally, if you had a fight, it doesn’t mean things are bad. Consequently, you can turn a lemon into lemonade.
How to Celebrate Spouses Day
Are you ready for some fun ways to celebrate this day? Well, I have a few things you can do to surprise your partner.
- In the first place, begin the day by hugging and kissing your other half.
- Compliment your partner.
- Surprise your partner throughout the day with fun messages either by phone or text. Also, you can hide a few notes in his or her pockets.
- Think outside the box. See my above idea. For instance, create a path to where your spouse can find you. Or, dedicate a song to him or her on the radio. Another suggestion I have is to plan to surprise your significant other. Of course, you can get creative with this by making a scrapbook of your adventures together or you can plan a new excursion.
- At the same time, it is important that you carve out some alone time today or anytime.
Consequently, there are other days to recognize your husband or wife. Be sure to check out my National Husband Appreciation Day and Wife Appreciation Day posts on other ways to appreciate your spouse.
As always, I welcome your comments on how you will be celebrating Spouses Day.
