Today’s post is about dinner party conversation starters. So, this weekend you’re having friends over. Of course you have planned out your menu, and drinks. Now, you’re ready for your friends to arrive. Since you want everyone to have a great time, what are you doing to get the conversation flowing.

In the first place, if everyone knows each other – great. But if there are a few friends who don’t know anyone, what should you do? Even if everyone knows each other, it is good to plan out something fun to keep the dinner lively.

How do you get the party started? When everyone has arrived, a great party idea is to create some adult dinner party games. Have a bowl with fun questions on a piece of paper. As each person arrives, have them pick a piece of paper. Also, you can leave a card at the dinner table. As each person picks up their card, they can engage in conversation or you can divide the party up as teams. Some fun questions to get the party started are:

If you’re playing as teams, award points for everything someone has on the same team. In addition, subtract points if no one shared anything in common. Get creative and have fun.

Make sure you avoid any topics that make a guest uncomfortable, such as politics or religion. Of course, the purpose of a game is to loosen up. It is important to get everyone to feel comfortable and laugh.
