  • Home Sales Party

Home Sales Party are a fun way to get together and shop.

    Home Sales Party

Move over – Tupperware – there is a new kid on the block.  So, attending a Home Sales Party has gotten hipper, trendier and more Fashionable. So, prior to the long holiday weekend, I ran a Home Fashion Sales Party at my Sister’s House on a weeknight North of Boston.  About a dozen women aged 30’s, 40’s and 50’s with wine glasses in their hand swarmed around the living room. Indeed, Women were excited to check out the tables and try on novelty knits.

    Relais Knitware

Relais Knitware is a USA based Company that produces easy pieces that fit right into a wardrobe already existing. In addition, styles are made with cover stitching and Zippers that can close to make a turtleneck or open on a warmer day. Also, side zippers are for extra room and added detail. The styles shown at the party were:

      • Cozy Sweater Wraps
      • Beautifully detailed Sweater Coats with Vegan Leather.
      • Lace Cut Outs
      • Vintage Styling

Ultimately, these sweaters are a must to add to your wardrobe. Indeed, these classic and timeless pieces with multi color options add luxury and versatility.  They are a good price point making them irresistible to purchase.

    Home Party Value

The value of these Home Sales Parties is that shopping comes to you.  It is a great way for a group of women to get together.  Women mingle, browse, have appetizers and have drinks at someone’s home in a relaxed kick back environment.  Shopping is a chore for many.  With the addition of a social element and a few drinks –  it adds an appeal to many giving you the chance to try on things in a non-mall setting.  Without the pressure of a Sales Person hovering near by is much more relaxing.

Of course, you can try on the styles, walk around and linger. To sum up, it gives you the chance to connect with other women on styles, trends and conversation before making a purchase. Also, a lot of women are busy with their careers, parenting, etc., They simply don’t have the luxury or time to drive around store-to-store or a mall to shop.

I feel my bringing the Boutique right to someone’s Home is a convenient and fun way to shop.  It is a new experience with a brand and a collection that isn’t found at the Mall and gives someone the opportunity to find something that isn’t mass produced.  If you love fashion, crave something new, want to mingle and bring the clothes to you in an informal setting than consider having a Home Sales Party while having fun with other women. To sum up, consider trying a Home Sales Party and  gathering your friends for a night of fun and shopping. Of course, who doesn’t LOVE getting new clothes?

  • Happy Labor Day!

As the Labor Day Holiday Weekend approaches it means the unofficial end of Summer.

Labor Day’s first celebration traces back to New York City in Union Square on September 5, 1882.  Many countless City Worker’s Strike.   The First State to declare the Holiday was Oregon, with Colorado, New York, Massachusetts and New Jersey to follow.  Thus began the Holiday as the first Monday of September –  Labor Day Holiday.

While many use this day as a holiday extended weekend, many cities honor workers by hosting parades, fireworks and barbecues. Of course, Labor Day for many means a day off from work. Also, for many this day marks the beginning of Fall with the return to schools for the beginning of their academic year.  My Husband and I will be using the Labor Day Holiday as not only a day off from work, but to enjoy a long weekend getaway.

    Happy Labor Day!

A question asked in Fashion for many, is can you wear White after Labor Day.  White is meant to be worn all year-around and has been seen all over the runways.  White comes in various shades, from ivory, winter-white to a bright white.  I think white is especially clean and is especially fresh in the fall and winter months.  Whether as an accent to your wardrobe, an accessory or head-to-toe white ensemble, I personally will be wearing this color year around.  To find what shade of white works best for your skin tone and body type – have fun experimenting with this color.   Every Woman and Man needs a White Shirt and White T-Shirts as this is an essential for every wardrobe.  Find that best shade for you and accent it with some great accessories.  Black, Gold and Silver Metallic can add some excitement to a white garment and give it that “Pop”  I recommend you embrace the color “White” in your wardrobe and see how much warmer it makes you feel in those upcoming Winter Days.  Happy Labor Day!

  • Experience Cartoons for Fashion Inspiration

So, experience Cartoons and Comics this season. Indeed, I’ve visited Walt Disney World as a Child, Teenager and Adult. Playing dress-up as a child, I was always inspired by the Cartoons and Comics and the Characters on television. Of course, these whimsical styles have always held a huge appeal to me. Every day I would watch The Flintstones and always looked forward to pulling the Comics section out of The Boston Globe newspaper on Sunday.  Some of my favorites were Archie, Josie and The Pussy Cat, and of course I loved Donald Duck, Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Playing with Barbie Dolls as a little girl was living a colorful life in the ever-changing world of Barbie’s friends. Her relationship with Ken was a little girls fantasy of finding the perfect man when she became an adult. Barbie’s every changing careers and wardrobe were always a fun day of inspiration. Today, cartoons are now being made featuring Barbie.

Fashions are plentiful with cartoon and comic characters styles. What can be more fun than dressing up like one of our favorite cartoon characters?

  • Surprise Element

Surprise elements are the latest trends in events. Recently, I went to a surprise Jack-n-Jill Baby Shower. Of course, my Husband and I were looking forward to this event. Our niece is due to have her first child next month. Indeed, they are both ecstatic to be parents. When we arrived at the Baby Shower, the Expectant Mother was in an elegant dress. Luckily, I was able to capture a photograph of my Niece with her Sister, Brother and Mother.

Surprise Elements – Shower turns into Wedding

So, the Expectant Father asked everyone to please sit down.  Furthermore, they had a big surprise for their guests. Denise and Anderson are expecting their first child together.  They decided to turn their Baby Shower into a Surprise Wedding for their closest friends and family. Suddenly, you just walked into our wedding. Furthermore, many couples are tricking guests. Since you don’t need a registry; this is easier for the couple.  Most couples may have everything they need. If you have everything you want, this is a nice surprise.  Of course, I am ecstatic for the couple and parents to be.  If you haven’t been to an event like this, I hope you have that element of surprise to look forward to in the future.

    Surprise Weddings

Additionally, these new “Weddings” are part of a big trend.  In fact, many couples are doing away with the tradition of planning a big wedding. Denise and Anderson made this event special due to their unique style. Also only a few people knew about this. Their element of keeping this a secret certainly turned out to be one.  Of course everyone had a surprised expression on their face.  If I had known I was attending a Wedding,  I would have worn something a little dressier.   Many Women were in beautiful dresses at this event.  Of course everyone was ecstatic to celebrate in Denise and Anderson’s joy. My Husband and I were happy to celebrate at this Event.

In conclusion what do you think about these type of events?  While we have all been to surprise parties;what do you think about these type of weddings? Have you been to one? On the positive side, this was a fun event.

We wish Denise and Anderson a lifetime of memories and love.

  • Red Sox Fan

    Red Sox Fan

Baseball AttireRed Sox fan – I’ve been one my entire life.

So, the first time I remember being interested in Baseball was when my Father took me to a Red Sox Game at 6 years old. From that day forward began my love of the game.  I became a lifetime Red Sox Fan.  Hence, there began my love-hate relationship which has stayed with me my entire life.

Every year at the start of Spring Training, I read the statistics of the players.  Once the regular season begins I won’t even make a telephone call during pre-game.  I love hearing what the Sports Commentators and Red Sox Management talk about prior to the first pitch.

Of course, I’m a Lifelong Red Sox Fan!

The Red Sox are usually an exciting team.

The last five years have been more downs than ups.  Even though we won the World Series in 2013, we’ve had 3 of the last 5 years be the last place in the American League.  Last year I had heartbreak over the trade of Jon Lester, one of my all-time favorite players.  The last two years as a Fan have been rocky for me. I’ve missed more than 70% of the games both on television and at the Ball Park.  In fact, this is the first time in a long time in a long time; I can remember I’m actually not going to the games.

Moreover, the team on the field for the last 2 years lacks chemistry, excitement; and they lost me with their sub-par performance more games than not.  As the trade deadline approaches tomorrow, I’m hopeful that the team will make the right moves. Meanwhile, they need some quality pitching and players to lead them into a more exciting 2016.  Indeed, every year I hope to see a competitive team put on the field.  Baseball is known to be a sleepy sport with not a lot of action going on.  For me, I find the sport about teamwork.

In summary, chemistry can make or break a team as I’ve seen from this team the last several years.  Looking ahead to next year and hoping to see a big improvement on the field.

  • KnockOff Book

    KnockOff Book

The Knockoff Book by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza is a book that I read over the weekend and wanted to share with you.  Funny, fashion, fiction in the digital age.

The story’s main Character is Imogen Tate, Editor and Chief of Glossy Magazine.  She returns to work after being out for medical leave for the last six months.  When she returns, she barely recognizes her office or magazine.  Likewise, she finds her former Assistant, Eve Morton has been hired to turn the magazine into an App.

Eve is planning to take over the throne from Imogen, take over her job while turning the magazine into an App.  Eve fires most of the old staff and puts the Managing Editor into a small space.  She hires a bevy of twenty something’s to text and tweet.  Under Eve’s reign the Office staff suffers through weigh-ins, dances, and overnighters.  The office is quickly turning into a sweatshop.

Imogen faces the challenge of learning new technology, quitting or learning as she embarks on a quest to save the magazine and her career.  Imogen embarks on learning how to tweet and use new technology.  She remains true to herself by marrying her “old school” methods and delights us throughout the story by maintaining her integrity.

    Knockoff Book

I highly suggest purchasing this book as it is an enjoyable book for anyone.  If you’re in the fashion or technical field, you will especially enjoy the humor and fashion references throughout the book.

    knockoff book

Throughout the story, The Knockoff Book brings the fashionable and technical personalities to life.  Hence, what stood out to me most about this story was you can always learn new things.  Of course – always remain true to yourself.

Did you read the Knockoff book?  What did you like?  Dislike?  I look forward to you sharing your thoughts with men when you finish this delightful read.

  • Curvy Fashion Week

    Curvy Fashion Week

Curvy Fashion Week is being celebrated in Boston this upcoming week.  This event promotes the curvy and plus size fashion industry.  Every day Women, maybe you wake up and think their body doesn’t measure up to the media generated images of the latest It Girl, Model, or Actress.  Whatever size or shape body you may have – embrace it and love your curves.  The Female Body is beautiful – be proud of what you have and own it!

In the last several years, I’ve gone through changes in my body.  I’ve always been curvy but the last few years, I’ve found my size has changed.   Fitness has become a more important part of my life however I’ve found my weight increasing.  Clothes are fitting differently and I’m trying to adjust to a “new” me as my size and shape change.

    Curvy Fashion Week

This week in celebration of Boston’s Curvy Fashion Event, I will be celebrating Women with curves in my blog posts.  Boston’s Curvy Fashion Week began in 2013 and organized by 10 curvy women who came together to promote a positive role model for all Women.  They are hoping to encourage Women to enjoy their life no matter what the scale says.   This event promotes and encourages Women of all sizes and shapes to come together.

Every Woman is different and we aren’t all size zero’s. In fact, each Woman has something beautiful internally and externally.  If your skinny, it doesn’t always provide happiness and if you’re larger framed, it should not cause despair.   I’m sure we all wake up some days wishing we could fit into our skinny jeans or feel or look skinnier.  With so many body shape hosiery, undergarments, leggings, active wear,  swimwear, tanks, pants, jeans and dresses now being designed to help Women look and feel good.  Of course, Spanx has become a house hold name in the majority of Women’s wardrobes, garments and hosiery.

Will you be attending Boston Curvy Fashion Week? In conclusion, let’s celebrate all Women today and every day moving forward!
